FrontEnd Web Developer OVERVIEW Discovery Education is looking for a developer with experience creating and maintaining scalable, dynamic Web sites. Experience working with Web video is preferred, but not required. We reach todays 21st Century learners and their families with mediarich programs that engage, inspire and activate students across America. RESPONSIBILITIESExecute and code complex designs, taking a project from PSD's to valid CSS/DHTML incorporating JS/AJAX/Flash as needed Apply design styles to new pages and layouts Estimate project length and communicate daily status with team QA work in multiple browsers Utilize ticketing system to check in and out work TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS must have Very strong JavaScript programming skills Expert knowledge of CSS and HTML Exposure to different JavaScript frameworks, understanding of appropriate uses Experience with compatibility testing (crossbrowser, W3C validation)3+ years of professional software development experience BS or MS in Computer Science, UI Design or related fieldADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS nice to have Experience with Cold Fusion Experience w/ SVN(subversion) Experience with effective SEO tagging (familiar with Google best practice SEO guide)ActionScript and Web video experience are a plusSolid skills in graphic design, with an eye for typography and intuitive layoutDESIRED PERSONAL TRAITSSelfMotivationReliabilityAttention to detailExcellent communicatorGood time management / multitasking skillsGood interpersonal skills Ability to accurately estimate and scope development work
