Main Function International Clearance Custody & Settlements (CCS) IT maintain and enhance the Firms settlement interfaces (SWIFT, Euroclear, Clearstream, Crest etc) along with several key systems within the Prime Services umbrella.FISS is the Firms primary international securities settlement and accounting system, settling in excess of 50% of the Firms transactions. The main functions of the system are Trade Enrichment, Settlement Netting, Clearing/Settlement, Position Management, Profit & Loss, Coupon Processing, Borrow/Loan & Repo Processing, Sub Ledger/ Trial Balance. Products transacted through FISS include Bonds, Equities, Warrants, Commercial Paper, and Certificates of Deposit.The 20+ FISS IT personnel analyse, develop, test, and deploy major and minor change requests for these interfaces and systems. FISS was purchased as a package, RIMS, in 1995 and has since been enhanced internally to meet the requirements of the business. The system is an Oracle database running on a Solaris UNIX platform and utilizes C, ProC, Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Report Writer 6.0. The user interface is composed of Oracle Forms, VB and C#, but a current project will standardise the interface on C#. Main Duties The vacancy is within the New York team supporting projects pertaining to the Barclays Wealth International expansion program. The ideal individual will have solid technical skills as well as aptitude and zeal to learn the business as it pertains to middle office, operations, settlement, and downstream processing. The FISS settlement system is an extremely complex system as it takes feeds from over 20 different front office systems and sends data externally to regulators, exchanges, depots and agents, and internally over 500 file extracts are delivered daily to other systems. The scope for learning many different aspects of settlement, accounting, position keeping, and messaging for the fixed income and equity business is huge.The ideal individual will possess the following key skills 1) Certified in Oracle with a minimum of 8 years experience implementing complex stored procedures, packages, performance tuning etc2) Background and experience working with Pro C, batch based programs, Unix, Shell Script, MQseries messaging3) Understanding of the trade lifecycle across asset classes, experience within a F2B middle and back office setting will be a plus4) Seasoned developer who utilizes SDLC best practices Person Requirements Technical Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, C, ProC, UNIX; Business Investment Banking Problem Management (investigation, diagnostics, and escalation)Investment banking products knowledge (Bonds, Equities)Good communication skillsCustomer focus able to deliver a first class serviceVersatile able to multi task and give 100% to tasks assignedTeam Player must fit within a professional teamSelf starter Able to manage own deliverables with little supervision Structured Software Development and TestingSource Code ControlMQ messagingAutosysFTP
