POSITION OBJECTIVE The Database Administrator is responsible for the operation of the DB2 database environment as well as the relationship with vendors and users who provide services to support this environment. The role is responsible for the daytoday operations of the database architecture and operation for the eCommerce websites, manage technical administration including monitoring, capacity planning, operational services, integration of enhancements and development efforts that pertain to the DB2 environment. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Perform functions and tasks associated with the design, development, and operation of the eCommerce databases Create database deliverables in accordance with specifications. Install, maintain, and support DB2 in all nonproduction environments. Identify and advise on database design issues and performance concerns. Develop & enforce common standards, guidelines, and procedures for database access during application development efforts. Implement physical databases for testing and QA running on AIX or Linux operating system. Provide input on any design decisions for interfacing or integrating databases across applications. Update logical and physical database designs with changes, keeping all documentation current with the asbuilt system configuration. Perform performance monitoring and database tuning during application testing and production operations. Generate, configure, and optimize the performance of the databases. Document benchmarks and procedures needed to optimize performance. Ensure that all configuration guidelines are followed. Act as a mentor to other database administrators, consultants and development staff.Work with the PMO to help draft and execute eCommerce related invest and enhancement projects. POSITION REQUIREMENTS 35 years experience managing DB2 on AIX/Linux preferably in a WebSphere Commerce environment.Demonstrable knowledge of backup and recovery, security administration, database and server performance monitoring and tuning, and capacity planning experience.3 years experience providing consulting support and architectural guidance in a large DB2 AIX or Linux environment, including experience with database replication, SAN Storage, monitoring and problem determination.Experience in DB2 on AIX and Linux problem analysis and resolution.Experience troubleshooting applications in a WebSphere/WebSphere Commerce and Distributed DB2 application environment.Experience supporting high volume, high availability databases on AIX and Linux in a 24x7x365 environment. Specific experience installing and configuring DB2 Version 8 and Version 9 for AIX and LinuxExperience with SQL and writing stored procedures.UNIX Shell Scripting experience. Perl scripting experience.Experience with Quest Central, Spotlight, and Toad.Must be able to work some overtime and provide afterhours support as needed.Ability to communicate technical issues with nontechnical people
