Description
The architect position will be a business information and subject matter expert possessing a deep understanding of all data/information and processes for a given business unit. This expertise will be leveraged to design business intelligence solutions allowing information to be used where, when, and how it is needed in concert with the business partners. A sample project would be building a Data Model, and then a Data Warehouse. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Data Architect (45%) Data architects usually have experience in one or more of the following technologies Data dictionaries Data warehousing Enterprise application integration Metadata registry Relational Databases Semantics Data retention Structured Query Language (SQL) Procedural SQL XML, including schema definitions and transformations. Some fundamental skills of a Data Architect are Logical Data modeling Physical Data modeling Development of a data strategy and associated polices Selection of capabilities and systems to meet business information needs Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Data Models and associated Meta Data that describe the business processes and the information that the processes depend on to facilitate our enterprise solutions. Formulate Abstract and Physical Data Architecture for large complex business problems, addressing both the short and longrange business impacts. Maintains Data Dictionary and advises analyst and programmers on file field and data source usage. Design datamarts consisting of fact tables and dimensions and facilitate the construction of web reporting off those structures. Improving and streamlining processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value Designs, develops, implements, and enhances data architecture to optimize productivity and maximize the utility of corporate information systems Develops abstract and physical data models that describe the business processes and the information that the processes depend upon. Develops technical and business reports to support the logical and physical data base designs. Provides input to data architectural standards. Responsibilities include the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence architecture including architectural standards that enable factbased decision making, ad hoc analysis, and insight generation. Troubleshoot and query existing data to identify problems and come up with solutions for data integrity problems Create and maintain SQL tables, datamarts and corresponding Fact and Dimension tables Architect and possibly develop applications used to maintain overall ETL process flows, including but not limited to Microsoft .NET, Microsoft SSIS, Business Objects Data Integrator. Business and Information Analyst (40%) Works with customers to understand informational needs and business challenges, document those requirements, and translate into solutions Champion of the information and processes used to drive the business Interface with Business Leaders to understand requirements and document Lead Requirements gathering meetings and facilitated sessions; Own process of eliciting Requirements and document results Review and synthesize existing system and/or process documentation. Be able to quickly react to changing business priorities to incorporate new data elements in existing models Document formally data flows, architecture and metadata Conducts feasibility studies to assess the cost / benefit and technical viability of solutions to business problems. Participate in system design and review meetings. Assist in preparation and execution of test data and test cases Coordinate User Acceptance Testing. Other (15%) Responsible for the Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) of Staging Tables and the further load of data structures Assist in issue identification, tracking, and troubleshooting efforts as required by Project Management and/ or Support Management; with direction, act as goto resource for Production concerns
