Job Description This position will work on multiple projects for an anticipated 612 month period as part of a team of longtenured FullTime Associates and Contract/Contingent resources. The role will primarily be responsible for continuing to expand the team rsquos Vertica environment, driving data development using Java, developing solutions using Apache Spark and programming in SQL. The ideal candidate has Strong Java skills and Building webbased solutions to access company business intelligence and data visualization application, managing legacy Javabased reporting Strong SQL skills and Writing complex stored procedures, understanding query structure for optimal performance A core strength in Vertica and Adding new data, managing existing data, optimizing Vertica performance and administering the product Experience in Apache Spark and Manage data using the Spark engine, preferably with Python, R or JavaFor this candidate to be successful they need to work well with minimal direction, proactively working with their peers and other technical leaders. This candidate needs to work well in team environments and ambiguous conditions. Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to Assisting in managing the Vertica database Optimizing performance, troubleshooting ETLs, administering the tool, recommending improvements Driving Java development Hookup existing apps/tools to endusers via web interfaces Managing changes to legacy Javabased reporting on intranet site Building data development solutions for processes in Spark and Vertica Leading Apache Spark development Serving as the team’s expert in Spark as it relates to Choicewide development initiatives supporting largescale system redesigns Developing solutions in Spark as data is available, replacing existing solutions as neede SQL Programming Modify existing stored procedures, building new procedures and standalone code Improving performance through optimization of existing code Education and work experience Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or similar 2+ years recent experience in Developing solutions in Vertica Java programming Recent active development experience using Spark (excludes school projects/classes) SQL development
