Job DescriptionOptimizely is looking for a DevOps Engineer that will work as part of our Application Backend Engineering team to drive operational excellence across our application. This is a unique opportunity to own, operate and scale missioncritical production services on a cuttingedge technology stack.Optimizelys core application services drive our Experimentation and Personalization products products that directly impact our customer experience. Our services are the backbone for enabling Optimizelys Data Platform and Content Distribution.We create and support internal and external APIs deployed across cloud providers such as Google Cloud Platform(GCP) and Amazon Web Services(AWS). These services are built and deployed with modern Python using competing frameworks and technologies.Why is this exciting for youYou will be the first DevOps engineer role for this team, and you will have a key position enabling you to both teach and learn. This role leverages knowledge and expertise across multiple business critical production systems.You are a hybrid Systems and Software Engineer that loves to build systems for solving repetitive tasks and workflows.You like working on a spectrum of web services and bringing structure to them.You have a metrics driven approach to improving and maintaining software ecosystems.You believe that automation is a key component in keeping a largescale system humming.You enjoy tackling highly complex problems with an engineering mindset.Work closely with the Application Backend and DevOps engineering teams to Define Operational Metrics for all our systems and services.Create a Reliability Engineering roadmap for ensuring that our complex, systems, and services are healthy, monitored, automated and designed to scale.Influence development early on so they are designed with scale, operability and performance in mind.Deliver launch plans for major features and build the necessary infrastructure (staging environments, monitoring, alerting etc) that will support the launch with operational runbooks.Design new tools and smart alerting that can help discover failures/issues in a timely fashion with the goal of automating response to nonexceptional service conditions.Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting.Qualifications You have strong DevOps experience with Unix/Linux systems, including solid troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.Know your way around Unix/Linux command line tools.Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well in a diverse, teamfocused environment with other Engineers, Product Managers, etc.You have production experience developing and deploying highly scalable stateless web services.Youve worked on systems in a variety of Cloud providers like AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean.Experience scaling NoSQL and relational database systems.You are familiar with service oriented architectures.You are interested in building shared reusable infrastructure.You have experience building fault tolerant services.Nice to have Handson experience with GCP and AWS would be a big plus.Nice to have You have experience with Python 2.7/3, Webapp2, Pyramid and Django.Perks Commuter and transportation benefits.Catered inoffice lunch and dinner on weekdays.Full medical insurance with very low copay and deductible.
