GENERAL SUMMARY The Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Software Engineer is a key member of the data warehousing and reporting team. The primary responsibility of the Sr. BI Software Engineer is to design reporting solutions that help facilitate effective decision making by business users. They support delivery of business intelligence solutions including data models, cubes, dashboards, and visualizations, along with designing, executing, and debugging manual test plans to ensure business requirements are met. The Sr. BI Software Engineer collaborates with business users to set requirements for reporting solutions which will meet business needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with business users, anticipating their needs in order to develop and/or analyze BI enduser requirements that will fulfill the business need.Evaluates feasibility of business requirements from a technical perspective to derive software designs and performance solutions.Designs and develops data models that are intuitive for other developers as well as power users to consume (selfservice).Identifies root causes of complex issues with data quality and other related issues.Strong data analysis skills and the ability to track a data element from source to transformation to target.Design, implement, execute and debug manual test cases using a variety of testing techniques.Designs, codes, and documents new software or enhances existing software and integrates into new or modified systems and/or operational environments.Creates compelling visualizations to help the business explore and interact with their data to aid in more effective decisionmaking.Creates interactive dashboards to give leadership insight into drivers of the business and help them manage performance.Prototype solutions quickly so business users can preview solutions before they are finalized.Secure sensitive content to align with regulatory and legal requirements.Maintains reporting websites and servers, applying the most recent enhancements/fix packs from BI vendors, as needed to ensure continuous service.Mentors junior staff. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The appropriate candidate for this position would possess a strong business acumen working independently and across teams. We are looking for driven selfstarters who are able to collaborate across all levels and teams within an organization. Effective written and oral communication is a must. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (including MS Access) required. Experience working in an Agile development environment, a plus.Undergraduate degree in computer science or at least 6 years of work experience in relevant field.At least 6 years experience implementing reporting solutions (e.g. Tableau, Cognos or equivalent) is required.At least 4 years specific experience implementing reporting solutions using Cognos is required.Experience with admin functions (Cognos, Tableau or equivalent) required.Experience building trusted data sources in Tableau, packages in Cognos Framework Manager, or equivalent required.Familiar with a variety of the business intelligence data warehouse and reporting concepts, practices, and procedures and business intelligence tools (e.g. Cognos, Tableau and SQL).Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a passion for testingProficient with writing moderate to complex SQL queries.Experience in Cloud Data Warehousing technologies like Snowflake, Azure or Redshift, a plus.
