Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop data standards and practices for use by the development community to ensure consistent data taxonomy and design across applications and sources.
Catalog and curate our data landscape across the enterprise by developing a corporate data catalog for use by analysts, developers, and power data users.
Oversee the data structure design (Data Vault 2.0 and dimensional modeling) of our next generation enterprise data platform leveraging Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, SQL Azure, Azure Analysis Services, and Power BI.
Continue the development and design of our inmemory ODS.
Support the ongoing maintenance design of legacy platforms including our previous generation ODS and EDW.
Provide architectural oversight of the data governance process.
Accelerate the adoption of new data technologies by jump starting development of new initiatives and developing proofofconcepts utilizing emerging technologies.
Evangelize and mentor the data community on new data patterns and practices planned for adoption at BBI.
Provide data thought leadership to architectural reviews and oversee the enforcement of standards through application code reviews.
REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information System, or similar discipline.
5+ years of data architecture experience including both data warehousing and application database design.
Rich understanding of data architectural and design patterns including normalized, dimensional, data vault 2.0, and multidimensional approaches.
Exposure to relevant data technologies such as Relational Database Management Systems (Oracle, SQL Server)
Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Data Warehousing (Oracle Exadata, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, or similar)
Online Analytical Processing (Azure Analysis Services or Microsoft Analysis Services)
Big Data (Hadoop and related ecosystem)
InMemory Databases (SQL Server InMemory Tables, SAP Hana, or similar)
NoSQL Technologies (Azure Table Storage, Mongo DB, Cosmos DB)
Structured File Formats (JSON, XML)
Master Data Management (SQL Server MDS, Riversand MDM)
Data Modeling Tools (ERwin, Embarcadero)
Data Visualization Tools (OBIEE, Power BI)
Strong leadership skills in building consensus across competing development teams and influencing development outcomes outside of his/her direct control.
Ability to concisely document and express data architectures and standards that can be readily understood and applied by both IT leadership and developers.
Exposure to application and data integration approaches for internal systems, mobile applications, and SaaS offerings.
Willingness to learn and experiment with technologies outside of his/her comfort area.
Microsoft (onpremises or cloud) data technology experience preferred.
Restaurant and consumer technology experience preferred.
