Systems Engineer

Description

Duties and Responsibilities Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Leverage System Center for automation and monitoring.
Verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Apply OS patches, antivirus, and upgrades on a regular basis, to maintain continuous hardening of the server. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Must know HyperV and Microsoft Virtual Machine Management and have excellent understanding of a Clustered Environment and Software Defined Networking inside of HyperV.
Must know Active Directory with a comprehensive understanding of Group Policy
Must know Windows Server 2008R2, 2012, 2012 R2 and 2016 and all common roles i.e DNS, DHCP, Windows Print Server, DFS, IIS, WSUS
VMWare knowledge is a plus.
Exchange 2010 administration.
Leverage Powershell for consistency/documentation.
Knowledge of Windows PKI administration.
Microsoft Remote Desktop Services or Citrix experience and understanding is necessary.
Azure knowledge is preferred.
SQL Server administration.
Excellent Customer Service experience with strong communication skills and project management skills.
Sharepoint 2010 and 2013 administration.
