Job Summary The Senior Firewall Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the Firewalls and security devices within Alliance Data Card Services. The goal is to ensure the integrity of high availability security infrastructure in order to provide maximum performance and stability for critical applications and services. The Sr. Firewall Engineer is additionally responsible for providing guidance and mentorship to other Firewall and Networking members.
Essential Job Functions 1. Install, support and maintain Firewall appliances and other security hardware and software infrastructure according to industry best practices, including Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention devices, and VPN concentrators 20%
2. Subject matter expert for the Firewall team and consult with other business units when necessary. Diagnose advanced problems and solve issues, often under time constraints 20%
3. Monitors network performance and implements performance tuning when necessary. 20%
4. Manage firewall/security systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access. 10%
5. Regularly participates in the audit process. 10%
6. Establishes and maintains relationships with outside vendors of IT&O products, professional organizations, contract employees, external auditors, and consultants. 10%
7. Participates in the development of standards, policies, and procedures; ensures support of standards, policies, and procedures. 10%
Education & Certification Requirements 1. Bachelor Degree (list field) Business/IT or equivalent experience
2. CCNA or equivalent experience
Describe type of work experience below 1. 810 years of experience in area of specialization, with at least 5 years experience as a network engineer on an Enterprise Class Network.
2. A thorough knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technologies
3. The ability to manage and oversee large projects based on project management experience and competencies
4. Experience in large, complex organization or corporate structured environment
5. Demonstrated strength in team leadership and direct supervision
6. Strong leadership and management skills
7. Demonstrated experience creating and leading communications with senior leaders, business partners, vendors to ensure collaboration, efficiency, and service excellence
8. Ability to work in stressful situation.

Other Skills, Knowledge or Abilities 1. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and Firewall security in an internetworking environment.
4. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, communications, and presentation skills.
5. Ability to serve as a technical mentor to others and guide less experienced engineers and technicians in resolving complex problems.
6. Ability to apply expert knowledge of network engineering to the most complex problems and to direct rain and guide less experienced staff.
8. Demonstrated project management experience.
9. Experience with routers, hubs, and bridges is a plus.
10. Experience with SNMP Management Tool, POC based tools and products, and MS Office preferred.
11. Cisco certifications such as CCNA and CCNP are a plus, CCIE is preferable.
