Network Engineer

Description

RESPONSIBILITIES Perform network changes and participate in the configuration and deployment of core and edge network devices.
Analyzes, recommends, and implements complex solutions that provide redundancy and disaster recovery plans to maximize uptime in the event of hardware, software, or network component failure or catastrophe.
Establishes, writes, and implements formal network technical standards, diagrams, documentation and operating procedures involving configurations and protocols.
Plan, implement, and maintain data communication networks, Internet and firewall equipment.
Participate in the configuration and support of the network and collaboration systems.
Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
Perform audits of the network configuration backup system to ensure nightly backups are completed as per departmental policy.
Monitor the wireless network infrastructure and report issues to IT management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in computer science or related degree or four years experience in server, storage and virtualized infrastructure systems.
Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
Completed training or studied the concepts of assisting users in defining business needs.
Two years of experience designing and supporting highly available, faulttolerant enterprise networks using both Catalyst and Nexus data center switches.
Four to five years experience in an IT department supporting wired and wireless network systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree in computer science or related degree.
Ability to perform complex tasks using independent judgment and critical thinking.
Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
Documented experience in the support of the mission critical wired and wireless network systems.
Documented experience in the support of the mission critical wired and wireless network systems that will be supported.
Seven plus years experience in the wired and wireless network systems to be supported.
