The State of Colorado's Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) is replacing its Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). This will redefine systems and business processes for the Colorado Medicaid program. The overall goal is to replace the legacy MMIS and Fiscal Agent services with a service delivery model that is both flexible and adaptable, with Business Intelligence and Analytics tools that will provide easy access to data and comprehensive reporting.
The Business Intelligence and Data Management (BIDM) portion of the project has been awarded to Truven Health (now IBM Watson Health). Under this fiveyear base contract with HCPF, IBM will build a firstofitskind, state, enterprisewide data warehouse that will collect, consolidate, and organize data from multiple sources, and fully integrate Medicaid eligibility and claims data, for reporting and business process analysis. These services will support HCPFs specific objectives including implementing a modern approach to data management. By integrating the vast collection of disparate data sources from across the state into a single data warehouse, the new system will support the Colorado Medical Assistance and related programs.
