Front End developer UI/UX

Description

Responsibilities include Developing new, and contributing to existing, platforms that have a critical role in the digital landscape that supports washingtonpost.com.
Leading and participating in major architectural decisions, helping to review code and implementations, and bring in new and emerging technologies into the organization.
Promoting an agile prototype first culture that prizes continuous learning and growth, while maintaining a high regard for quality.
Owning the end to end technical requirements and roadmap for major engineering products.
Working in tandem with editorial and business partners to build leading edge media products that have a material impact on The Washington Post and the industry.
Requirements include A strong background in data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
S. \ M.S. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, related fields, or equivalent experience.
35+ years focusing on enterprise scale frontend architectures.
Experience designing and diagramming both the logical and physical aspects of system architecture.
Openness to working with new frameworks \ languages, a passion to learn emerging technologies & paradigms, and ability to handle occasional ambiguity.
Excellent judgment, both in technical and organizational problem solving.
Exceptional communication skills with both technical peers and nontechnical partners.
LSB \ POSIX system administration experience Preferred
Experience with scripting languages e.g., Python, PHP, Shell Scripting, etc Preferred
Understanding of the Front End aspects of an application comfortable with HTML, CSS, JavaScript Preferred
Strong understanding of Java
Experience working in an Agile \ Rapid Prototyping environment Preferred
Experience with AWS (specifically EC2, RDS, and S3) Preferred
Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality Preferred
A passion for open source software, and contributions to the open source community Preferred
