Mainframe Programmer Analyst

Description

The Mainframe Programmer Analyst is a technical problem solver with strong analytical skills, has an understanding of the financial services industry, and the ability to work in a team environment as well as individually. The ideal candidate will be an organized, energetic, proactive and teamplayer who can easily work with multiple groups and has modern mainframe skills to provide solutions to business problems and objectives. This position will specifically focus on Corporate Actions Applications.
As a Mainframe Programmer Analyst, you are responsible for the analysis of application issues, providing design/build/test for problem and project assignments, in conjunction with their technology initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with project managers, architects, technologists and business partners to support and enhance a complex application across platforms.
Create, update and maintain technical documentation. Assist in the rapid resolution of Production issues and defects.
Develop, test, debug, implement, and support moderatetocomplex programs. Resolve issues and validate programming requirements within areas of responsibility.
Take a leadership role in technical design and product implementation discussions.
Generate adhoc queries/reports from system databases.
Perform regression testing and other development related tasks
Translate technical systems design to functioning code
Actively look for opportunities to enhance performance and reduce risk
Education and Experience Bachelors degree in computer science or related technical field is required Experience working in a structured development life cycle methodology Agile/Scrum
Experience working with global resources / team members
Experience working in the financial industry brokerage industry processes and product experience is a plus
Experience with the promotion of application changes through numerous environments from development to production
Individual should be able to quickly and accurately understand the scope, risk and complexity of a proposed enhancement or production issue, help with the estimate, and communicate clearly to the stakeholders
Individual should be able to handle multiple tasks in parallel in the correct order of priority
Skills and Knowledge
10+ years Strong Development experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO, DB2, CNTLM, IBM Mainframe and knowledge of the transmission protocols Debugging tools such as InterTest or Xpeditor
Using DB2 tools like CA Platinum, SPUFI or similar
Java and XML experience is a plus
Experience building DB2 Native Stored Procedures
Experience building services and invoking mainframe based components Knowledge of Endevor, JIRA, Confluence
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Microsoft tools Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook Working knowledge of reporting tools a plus
