Description
Global Tel Link (GTL) is the corrections industry leader in innovation. GTL is the trusted, onestop source for integrated technology solutions delivering an innovative vision for the future while providing exceptional value today. From Inmate Communication Solutions (telephone systems, messaging, handheld devices, etc.) to Facility Management Solutions (Offender Management System, intake kiosks, etc.) and more, GTL provides an array of technological software solutions and implementations to prisons and correctional facilities across the country.
The Integration Engineer must sit on site in the Altoona, PA office. The Java Integration Engineer will support the Connect Network/Mobile Devices team on multiple projects and products. This team is led by the Development Group Manager, Brian Kirkpatrick. The development team consists of 5 local engineers in the Altoona office, 4 engineers in Pittsburgh, and 3 engineers in Colombia. This team works closely with Kevin Doyle's team (county/state/fed government development) as Brian's team is more of the consumer, frontfacing side of the house. The team supports consumer payments, bringing in $350400 million in revenue each year. They support all transactional devices, such as reverse ATMs (where inmates can make payments, but cannot take withdraws), kiosks, and hand held devices. The team is currently deploying hand held devices into prisons where inmates can utilize email, MP3s, and even take GED courses. These devices are not wireless and must sync to a kiosk (due to security reasons.) This involves custom Android/OS development onto custom devices. For example, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is allowing inmates to purchase hand held devices, and GTL currently has 1,400 devices live in PA. They are only 1/10 of the way deployed, so when all is said and done there should be 8,000 devices.
Candidates should have experience with Javabased integration work, as well as experience with Enterprise Service Bus preferably Mule. The Engineer will work closely with the Sr. Engineer from their team, and must have good written and oral communication skills in order to obtain information from users in order to work on an interface. Problem solving skills are a must, as the Engineers will work with many disparate systems. The Engineers will architect on the fly and build on the flow, as there are not always BAs available to follow up with end users (such as customers, 3rd party suppliers, or internal GTL system technology leads.) The team is in the process of rewriting their external website, utilizing JSF, primefaces, or icefaces.
