HPUX System Administrator

Description

Summary
Maintains all production and test HPUX environments and ancillary components to ensure that business needs are met and data is safe and available by performing the following main duties  Sets up and maintains backup and recovery hardware/software.
 Provides administrate technical support for server and storage hardware; repair or replace defective hardware on servers as necessary; expedite repairs with outside services.
 Provides administrative and technical support for various application server platforms including Informix, DB2, Cobol, Apache, Peoplesoft.
 Maintains server security features to protect confidential information while allowing appropriate access.
 Monitors system logs and activity on all servers and storage.
 Researches, installs, and tests software updates and patches to supported applications and various operating systems.
 Provides oncall & afterhours support as required.
 Additional duties and projects as required.
Required Education and/or Experience
Two year degree in Computer Science or HPUX certification desired and at least 35 years administering HPUX in a complex datacenter environment and/or mediumtolarge network environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Computer and/or Technical Skills
Should have intermediate to advanced knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Prior experience with server or data center environments is required.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, employees, and the general public.
