Through the recently finalized acquisition of Bowne, RR Donnelley has acquired a number of applications and systems. They are now faced with what applications that they will want to utilize on a goforward basis as there will be some overlap of capabilities with what the companies had in their current environments.
The Development Project Management tools are one example. RR Donnelley has been using a system called Time Trax and Bowne had been using a tool called Auto Task. It is believed that there is some duplication of effort with these two applications and they need an individual to evaluate what they have. During this evaluation process, this individual will need to understand the full capability of what the two applications can do as well as understand the needs from those utilizing them to help make a decision on choosing one of these two systems, or making a decision to go to something else.
Time Trax and Auto Task are Project Management tools used by IT to track application development projects. It provides visibility in to project status and can track progress as well as customer requests from beginning to end. It also produces metrics and reporting that PMs all the way up through the CIO can review for additional project related information.
This person will be both functional and technical. They will need to bring strong BA skills to the table to be able to understand the applications, analyze their capabilities, and then gather requirements to aid in the decision process of what RRD will need to use on a goforward basis. In addition, they will need to have some SQL development skills (they are running SQL Server 2008), enough to create enhancements in the database, move code around, and have some interaction with the servers. There are no requirements for SSRS/ IS/ AS, but this person will also need some strong report development experience with Crystal Reports as that is how the reporting and metrics are created.
