Description UT Workday Implementation Program The UT Workday Implementation Program (program) is implementing the HCM/Payroll portion of the Workday system universitywide with go live scheduled for November 1, 2018. The Workday program team includes functional analysts, technical staff, report developers, organizational change management and readiness teams, and program management staff. We have taken an integrated team approach when forming our work groups and we value and rely upon deep involvement from business process owners, campus technical stewards, and representatives from stakeholder groups. We work very closely with our business processing offices (HR, Payroll and others). As the Payroll Services team at UT prepare for Workday, it is clear that there will be an increased need to support processing in some areas for the months following golive.
The Business Analyst position focus on Payroll subject matter, will be embedded in the Workday Business Support team, and will provide support for our Payroll Services at UT Austin throughout the hypercare period (golive through February 28, 2019). Payroll Services at UT Austin provides services to the entire campus, producing and distributing payroll for approximately 25,000 employees each month. At Workday golive, Payroll Services will experience an influx of unsupported retro transactions (transactions that have effective dates prior to our golive date) that will need manual intervention in Workday by technically and functionally capable resources.
Responsibilities The Business Analyst contractor position will report to the Program Director responsible for Workday configuration and functionality and will take daytoday direction from the Payroll Director. Responsibilities will include Intake of business processes (reporting on retro transactions) in Workday for evaluation of the level of impact to the HR, Payroll, Benefits and Finance business areas.
Communication of impact and assignment of tasks to impacted areas. When necessary, communication with campus initiators to clarify intent of transaction.
Execution of payrollspecific tasks needed to support the retro transactions at UTAustin.
Specifically, the Business Analyst contractor will Become familiar with UTs payroll setup and related practices in the following areas Cost transfers (funding changes)
HCM transactions that impact pay
Compensation practices
Time entry and leave
Collaborate and operate with the payroll payment team to identify, document and process retroactive transactions. Provide feedback on process and identify/recommend process improvements. Interact with campus users and answer questions/provide guidance on processing retro transactions in Workday.
Required Skills 3 or more years of experience implementing Workday payroll OR operating in a payroll administrator/specialist (running Workday payrolls) capacity in Workday;
3 or more years of experience working in or with a payroll business processing environment in which payroll deadlines were routine;
2 or more years of experience configuring or operating with Workday payroll in an environment which unsupported retro was frequently encountered.
2 or more years of experience supporting complex time reporting transactions requiring extensive analysis and documentation to troubleshoot and solution for correct payment.
Significant knowledge of standard Workday HCM/Payroll concepts, practices, and processes;
Significant knowledge of the unsupported retro transactions in Workday and proven experience with manually intervening to process these transactions.
Knowledge of payroll concepts, accepted practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations as they apply to the payroll area.
Knowledge of commonlyused concepts, practices, and procedures within higher education;
Experience reviewing, analyzing, documenting and executing complex payroll transactions and experience communicating these to stakeholders and colleagues;
Experience troubleshooting complex payroll transactions with the goal of resolving ahead of payroll deadlines;
Experience directly communicating, both verbally and in writing, with business process owners and departmental
users in a university environment;
Experience working as part of a large systems implementation team, utilizing a variety of coordination and communication strategies, and tracking activities to project plan milestones;
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
Proven attention to detail in all aspects of analysis, documentation and execution of tasks;
Ability to multitask and use independent judgement in prioritizing simultaneous tasks.
