Job Description
Overall 10+ years working in IT, as Database/DW professional Played pivotal roles as Lead engineer and support staff across various database technologies Knowledgeable in database technologies Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, cache etc. Exposure to commercial platform Database technologies from providers such as Oracle (Exadata), Cloud Platform like ExaCloud, Netezza etc. Has experience in DevOps tools to enable DBaaS (Database As a Service) Must have experience with Oracle 11g/12c, MS SQL 2012/14/16, Oracle RAC, Oracle ASO, Partitioning, ASM, OEM, AlwaysOn etc. Must have some understanding of data integration technologies and methodologies (API driven, ETL tools like Data Stage, Golden gate, Oracle Data Integrator etc.) Be very comfortable with Agile methodologies in order to be able to arrive at difficult engineering decisions quickly Must have had experience creating solutions or solution concepts and defending these with technology councils / architect groups Worked in projects to integrate enterprise data with high volume and velocity 2nd or 3rd party data from other sources such as Social channels or 3rd party sources Should have experience of working in Healthcare Industry (or similar) to understand the data security requirements like PCI/HIPPA/NIST/SOX etc. Role Details
Leverage technical and business acumen in an effort to provide superior development and production support for our Database environments. In addition, will drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability in an effort to maximize performance of our environments. Partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs and SLO. Participate on LOE (Level of Estimate) design process to provide appropriate solution and level of estimates for execution for database solutions The primary focus will be on choosing optimal database (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, DB2, Cache etc.) solution to use based on business requirements, then designing, maintaining/supporting, implementing, monitoring and optimizing them. You will also be responsible for integrating them with the architecture used across the company. Design strategies for enterprise database systems and set standards for operations, programming, scalability, reliability and security. Design and construct large relational databases. Integrate new systems with existing warehouse structure and refine system performance and functionality. Oversee the work being done by other Database engineers working on the team, coordinating team activities with other teams and product groups, maintaining Database architecture standards. Contributes in leading and directing database engineering resources to ensure timely and quality delivery of services. dentify, evaluate and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance. Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately. Work with Customers, end users and development partners to define and assess technical requirements and understand the current state of technology to define opportunities that create business value. Work with other architects to define the technical architecture structure to ensure that the products and components work together to meet the objectives and performance goals as required by the customer. Provide ownership of all database objects in DB schema (tables, partitions, indexes, views, procedures) Using database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance governance on Database changes. Performing problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis, and outlining resolution options Providing fulllifecycle support for complex database environments Consulting with development teams to advise on physical database architecture and application use Providing offhours support, when required, for critical production issues. Ensuring system documentation is complete per Quest standards Automate Infrastructure components leveraging understanding of scripting, coding and automation using one or more of the following PowerShell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, OEM or others Have familiarity with SDLC models and best practices and use of source control and testing tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Chef, Terraform, RAT etc. Leverage and learn open source operating systems and tools Bring a technology agnostic and open perspective in technical recommendations and decision making, being able to articulate and advocate for best technical solution that meets big picture business needs Fully understand the capabilities and limitations of the technical environments. Work with the third party support team (onshore and offshore) and application support teams to educate and guide them for steadystate supporting database infrastructure related technologies.
