1. Senior Level SQL engineering experience with server migrations (SQL Server 2008 R2 to 2014/2016). Planning, designing, and executing on the migrations. 100+ servers
2. SQL Server database (2014/2016) platform features experience key contributor to the improvement of database systems by conducting routine performance analysis and applying optimization to database configurations
3. Application Compatibility testing for SQL Servers assessing and testing the environment prior to deployment Job Description Our client is seeking a contract resource to assist with their SQL migration project to move SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 servers that will have an end of life on July 9, 2019 to a newer version. They have roughly 100 servers that will need to be migrated before end of life. The resource hired will come in to be responsible for developing a project plan and working with all the internal teams needed to complete the migration, i.e., applications, IT, software vendors, etc. One of our clients biggest concerns is getting all the prework completed in order to migrate the servers, migrating will be the easy part. The prework will include but is not limited to work with application owners within IT and the software vendors to assess application/server compatibility, define process for remediation or rationalization, test applications, validates that all application compatibility processes, checklists, tasks, and instructions are accurate and maintains application checklists, develops and maintains all applicationrelated project technical documentation, etc. Due to the nature of the environment, the applications sitting within these servers are patient facing applications and will be mission critical. Daytoday Attend meetings with internal stakeholders and understands the environment to effectively create plans for migration Schedules out the migration time line with the technical teams alongside the department teams Meets with the team that owns the applications to asses which versions are able to comply with the migration or which applications may need to be upgraded to be compatible Work with the internal resource teams to set up test environment before migration Work with the application team to handle the migration and they will provide the checklist on validations
