Position Title Software Engineer FrontEnd Specialist
Position Description The Software Engineer role reports through Alphabroders IT organization and is responsible for performing varying tasks on a variety of technologies and platforms that support online purchasing, CSR support tools, APIs, data feeds, EDI, ERP, WMS, Data Analytics and media provisioning. Alphabroders core technology platform is centered on Progressbased systems running on AIX which are highly supplemented with a PHPbased microservice tier and AWSbased implementations. Virtually all documentation is maintained in Atlassian Confluence and all work assigned and tracked in Atlassian Jira.
All Software Engineers at Alphabroder are expected to possess an understanding of databases and data modeling, leveraging API calls to communicate between systems and with 3rd parties, change control, QA cycles, version control, backwards compatibility, and how to function as a team player. The FrontEnd Specialist position is intended to provide core competencies in browserlevel integration and display technologies; while this is not a graphic design position, it is expected that this role will involve implementation and troubleshooting of display/UI changes designed by others. Key technologies associated with this role would include Core JavaScript, including calling APIs and parsing resultsets
CSS / HTML
Jquery
JavaScript libraries, including singlepurpose utility libraries to support image zoom, carousels, video embedding, menuing, etc
Angular 6.x/7.x
Support of 3rd party searchasaservice provider (GroupBy)
Marketing Tracking Pixels (Coremetrics and GoogleAnalytics), including setting up campaigns and tracking events
Familiarity with NPM/Node, Sass, Grunt, other commandline tools as needed to support development, build, deploy, packaging
Familiarity with packaging and deployment processes, including versioning, cachebusting, minification, and concatenation
GIT for version control
Job Responsibilities Solid communication skills; must be able to discuss highly technical solutions with nontechnical peers and business staff and help bridge the jargon gap.
Must be able to create own technical requirements based on business feedback and break down work into discreet tasks.
Must be able to work closely and cooperatively with business, project management, quality assurance, and systems administration teams software engineering is a group effort.
Ability to document on company Confluence instance; ability to manage work as tickets in Jira.
