Description

Position Summary
Responsible for creating, enhancing & maintaining Property & Casualty insurance data models for Mercury BI team. Also, responsible for developing physical design, tuning SQL queries, following modeling best practices, providing 24x7 production support etc.
Experience Describe the required/desired years and type of experience.
A minimum of 10 years experience related to software development.
Must have at least 7 years experience in designing & developing data integration and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
Must have at least 7 years experience in data modeling using Kimballs methodology.
Must have at least 3 years experience in Cloud/MPP technologies preferably AWS Redshift.
Must have at least 5 years experience in application & SQL query tuning
Must have at least 5 years experience in estimating, planning and tracking development tasks
Knowledge and Skills Describe any required/desired specialized knowledge, skills or abilities.
Knowledge of database design concepts, programming, performance tuning
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle
Proficient in data modelling tools
Knowledge of researching and preparing detailed functional specifications
Knowledge of how application systems interact with each other, databases and the infrastructure
Experience with debugging production issues and resolving them
Experience with identifying application performance bottlenecks and resolving them
Knowledge of industry best practices
Experience in implementing reusable code libraries and frameworks
Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with business leaders and stakeholders.
Requires strong consultative skills and excellent customer communications and solution prioritization
Requires thorough understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers and measures of success for the business, and the short and longterm direction of the business and technology.
Breadth and indepth knowledge of business areas to identify and communicate how IT solutions can add value
Requires ability to independently set priorities and make decisions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
General knowledge of current computer system including system layout, capabilities, database manipulation, screen information, and work processes
Ability to thrive in cross functional matrix environment
