SUMMARY
The role of Solution Architect is to broadly manage the overall strategy and daytoday delivery of the solution technical and data architecture functions across a set of business areas. This includes coordinating the efforts of the data, information and technical architects and functional stakeholders across multiple projects and participating in project discussions and activities to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency of solution data and technical architecture deliverables and solutions strategy. This role will also have some daytoday support responsibilities for some time until the operations team has been staffed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design solutions and participate in implementation; Vet and confirm solution design and delivery are complying to corporate standards.
Participate in preimplementation activities with solution delivery partners and business stakeholders to drive optimal design and identify risks and potential drivers of effort and change to corporate application and integration landscape.
Comprehend business strategies and requirements and develop necessary designs and plans to ensure projects and solutions satisfy those needs
Act as a contributing member of project teams from project inception to completion
Continuously monitor the scope and status of projects to ensure solution delivery is on target
Actively listen to enduser/business problems and implement that information when creating solution plans
Maintain domainarea documentation to ensure there is an ongoing, current source of truth for corporate application, integration, and architecture environment
Provide advice and make decisions about which technologies would be suitable to use for various projects
Collaborate with project managers and other staff members to ensure solution complies with technology, security, and integration standards; Assess and evaluate risk as required
Maintain understanding of how individual work and decisions fit into the broader organizational picture
Keep skills updated and remain proactively aware of happenings and current events in the industry
Should have solid foundational understanding of technical applications from an architecture, security, and integrations standpoint
Should maintain current knowledge of integrations inventory, ecosystem and toolset and provide guidance and direction enabling adherence to leading practices
Mentor, educate, and train colleagues as requested, including permanent
Responsible and able to capture, document and communicate the downstream/upstream and ecosystem impacts of changes being proposed.
Maintain current application and enterprise architecture documentation as implementations and integrations change, grow, and proliferate.
Deliver Solution Design and Engineering Review (SDER) materials for solutions per corporate process
REQUIREMENTS
Strong relationshipbuilding, strategic partnering, interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
Strong business acumen in Legal, Document Management, Contracting, and Procure to Pay processes and functions strongly preferred
Proficient problemsolving skills
Good scope management, portfolio and project management skills
Strong solutions and/or enterprise architecture background
Politically savvy and strong soft skills
Ability to influence and manage crossfunctional team in a matrix organization
Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
SPECIFIC SKILLS
Strong ERP background, particularly in procure to pay process areas and with legal/contract systems is a big plus.
Strong background in architecting solutions in a hybrid (cloud and onprem) environment required
Experience in Biotech Industry is strongly preferred
Strong skills in Visio and/or other documentation tools
Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements related to public life sciences companies (21 CFR Part 11, SOX, HIPAA, etc) is preferred
Experience in managing stakeholder expectation
Good communication skills and strong presentation skills
Ability to engage with business leaders, recognize areas for internal improvement and develop plans for implementation
Prior experience with PPM (Project & Portfolio Mgmt.) software desired
Knowledge of PLC (Program & Project Lifecycles Management), SDLC
Knowledge and past experience with Oracle Procurement is a plus
Software Development Life Cycle), ITIL processes is essential
