Description

Perspecta is building an enterprise software application from scratch that will be used by the County of San Diego (tax collector) to invoice, get payment, and track Property Taxes for all property owners in the County of San Diego. This massive application will be built in several parts; some parts will be COTS and other parts will be custom built from scratch. Then all those parts will integrate to give the tax collector and tax payer one tax paying experience. There are only about 500 users of this software and they work for the County of San Diego; therefore, the design look is as important as the functionality/use of the application.



Job Duties.

DATABASE: perspecta is currently building/developing the database for this new Microsoft application. They will convert the data from the County mainframe and put it into the Database which will then serve up the data to the property tax web application.
DATA WAREHOUSE: They are also building a Data Warehouse to back up the data in the County Mainframe (tax payer information, parcel numbers, etc.). This helps mitigate the risk of the mainframe having problems. They are approximately 75% finished with this Data Warehouse
Use best practices and experience to implement SQL Database and Data Warehouse solutions; data integration, database design and development, etc.
Full life cycle SQL Data Engineering from qualifying and validating requirements, through design/data modeling, development, and testing.
Analysis work: Document requirements and translate into proper system requirements specifications using high-maturity methods, processes and tools. Formulate and define system scope and objectives based on user needs
Develop and Design ETL Packages and TSQL code to view, process and transform data between systems.
Execute and coordinate requirements management and change management processes.
80% SQL, T-SQL development, 20% ETL package development (some SSIS, some customer ETL packages)
Create cubes using SSAS
Not just strong at development, but also good at analysis and finding solutions to challenging data problems. We need a good problem solver which takes solid fundamentals and good overall SQL, T-SQL, and data warehouse knowledge.
Help develop test plans to make sure the database / data warehouse solution meets all user requirements. Responsible for unit testing developments and working with the validation team to correct bugs and anomalies in the data warehouse
Required.

2+ years SQL Server database development and T-SQL, solving problems with writing complex queries. Experienced in the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS). Database design and development, good knowledge of data engineering (data modeling, ETL tools, integration, storage, performance.
Abilty to develop the SQL Server database from analysis, through data modeling and development
Familiar with both Transactional (Database) and Data Warehouse DB Design and implementation experience (i.e. Relational, Star Schemas, Kimball, etc
