Description
1. 2+ years of Azure engineering experience. assigning roles in Azure, evaluating server utilization, resizing and recommending size changes, and automating simpler tasks (i.e. automated server deployments. Experience working in the Azure portal
2. Scripting experience with PowerShell and Terraform. Experience automating tasks i.e. spin up servers as needed within Azure.
3. Combination of at least a few of these Azure tools: Azure Security Center, Azure monitoring, Azure Key Vault, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Dedicated HSM, Blob Storage, Azure Backup, Azure Functions, Virtual Machines, Service Fabric and Container Instances
Responsibilities
- The Cloud Engineer will assist with the development and implementation of the cloud architecture in various cloud, hybrid, and on-premise systems. This position will directly contribute to the overall implementation of enterprise cloud architecture while working closely with staff to enhance and develop new designs and strategies across all types of cloud-based applications.
- The Cloud Engineer will collaborate with both Information Technology and Business Units to ensure open lines of communication and clear understanding of objectives within each project. The successful candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills, required for collaborating with both internal business units and resources and external partners and integrators.
- Responsibilities and skills include:
- • Design cloud solutions that ensure most sustainable, flexible, secure and cost appropriate solutions & technology platforms
- • Direct project teams toward solutions that align with agreed guiding principles, strategy, architecture, and standards
- • Consult with project teams to develop a solution design which is compliant with the architecture and standards of the Company.
- • Ensure appropriate sizing of solutions, technology fit, and DR are assessed and accounted for.
- • Engage additional teams (Security, Network, etc.) as appropriate and lead through resolution of architectural issues.
- • Ensure successful execution of IT strategies, architecture guidelines and standards and lead project teams through the technology selection and architecture/security governance processes
- • Utilize agile practices to ensure consistent and transparent execution.
- • Maintain current understanding of Azure Cloud offering with abilities to implement relevant features.
- • Look for opportunities to optimize and enable consistent automated deployments.
- • Keep abreast of emerging technology/industry trends in cloud
- • Define new patterns, and standards as required.
- • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to others.
- Qualifications
- • College degree or/equivalent and 3 years' related work experience, required
- • 1 – 2 years’ experience with Architecting and/or Engineering in cloud environments.
- • 2 – 3 year’ experience with Azure Cloud platform.
- • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure is required. Specifically, Azure Security Center, Azure monitoring, Azure Key Vault, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Dedicated HSM, Blob Storage, Azure Backup, Azure Functions, Virtual Machines, Service Fabric and Container Instances.
- • Hands-on experience with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell with a focus on orchestration and automation of underlying services, systems, provisioning, and security hardening.
- • Understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems at a detailed level including processes, memory allocation, and networking with an understanding of how applications function and impact other OS components and cloud services.
- • Expert-level debug/troubleshooting skills.
