Consults and collaborates with business leaders, end users, IT staff, vendors and other third parties and is involved in every phase of an application throughout its lifecycle
Job automation, running batch jobs, running SQL scripts, reviewing logs, system and application monitoring, maintenance, patch management, software upgrades, file transfers, backups, incident/problem troubleshooting and support.
Performs operational support responsibilities including application maintenance, application configuration and performance tuning, account management, installation of software upgrades, user support, and systems monitoring.
Understand architectures to discover patterns, bottlenecks and opportunities for increasing efficiency and reducing waste
Ensures that the application layer is optimally configured for seamless integration and operability with OS, database, middleware, network, Web services, and other interrelated technological components.
Engages with the various teams to perform application health checks to ascertain application accessibility, server availability, capacity planning, monitor scheduled job, batch jobs, systems alerts, upstream/downstream feed status.
Responds to incident tickets, user inquiries and services requests.
Monitors system alerts, system utilization thresholds, capacity utilization on servers etc.
Works with the application vendors to obtain knowledge of the vendor's planned changes, existing problems and known errors, corrective action and work around alternatives, and technical support capabilities.
Works to understand critical path items and create health check metrics and dashboards.
Focuses on integration within our current Business and Security Systems that leads to improved customer experience
Programs and supports automation tasks to reduce toil in the IT environment.
Actively pursues minimizing all manual steps in their day to day and within the applications they work on.
Aggressively "lazy" (puts in extra time and effort to not repeat a manual step).
Always looking to continuously improve.
Understands tooling for debugging and maintaining the applications (APM, Log Aggregation, etc.) they work on, and actively learns new tooling as it comes online.
Proficient at leveraging development tools (IDE, browser tools, Git, etc.).
Understands in general technologies and techniques used in leveraged automation.
Can identify trends and participate in the formulation of remediations to negative trends.
Ability to solve problems and find solutions independently (with minimal to no guidance) using programming languages, best practices, and/or tools specific to technology platform and tier (front-end, middle tier, database)
Shows emerging leadership ability on small, cross service, Agile teams. E.g. lead a stand-up, facilitate a pair-programming session, code review with others, drive an idea at sprint planning, retrospective, etc.
Familiar and comfortable with consuming and scripting against API’s using JSON
