Description

We are looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer that has a background in development, understanding of architecture, solid experience in Java development, and the desire to apply their skills to cloud technology. Your focus will be to work on a highly cross functional team to build the components other teams will use to create solutions for the Customer. The Senior Engineer works with application developers to automate and accelerate the testing, release and deployment of applications into a runtime environment quickly and reliably. The Senior Engineer will have a background in development, operations, and full-stack implementations. They will be providing continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment and have experience with the core suite of tools used to manage different cloud providers. The Senior Engineer may also be responsible for building and maintaining optimized and highly available data pipelines that facilitate deeper analysis and reporting by the Data and Analytics department. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for mentoring and teaching existing team members. As such, the ideal candidate must have experience clearly explaining solutions to complex problems and demonstrate the ability to lead and impart knowledge effectively to junior resources.

Responsibilities

• This team wants to be able to stand up a stack or modify a stack or do blue/green deployments
• EXAMPLE: Run a deployment at 2pm in the afternoon and touch one microservice and not have any down time.
• - Wants them to work with the CI/CD team and get them on board with what they are doing, but they need to build their own IaC
• - They need to still be open to doing development
• - The first 1-2 years will be working with the dev teams to reshape the IaC
• - Current IaC is not just terraform, could be cloud formation etc.
• - Get them to the point where they manage the infra as code,
• - How to stand up a new stack
• -Wants them to be focused on Cloud Development
• -The need to know the ins and outs of Terraform- their team has the most complex terraform installations in the organization.
• -Understanding the tool and other tools in the space, look at the requirements for setting up a new structure and how to set those up, support prod testing.
• -Understand existing terraform, understand requirements, know the tools and how to structure where they want to go.
