Cassandra Administrator

Description

Perform common database procedures, such as upgrades, backups, recovery, migration, patching, etc.
Work with multiple teams (e.g., application, infrastructure, cloud, etc.) to complete requests (adding new or decommissioning existing clusters)
Debug and resolve issues
Recommend and implement performance tuning of CPUs, cores, etc. for Cassandra
Assist with the design, configuration, and management of large Cassandra clusters on multiple environments.
Assist with planning, implementation, and oversight of data migration from one DC to another DC
Use OpsCenter, Astra Health Dashboard, Splunk, Pager Duty, RightScale, etc. or some combination of tools to conduct ongoing health check monitoring
Troubleshoot and make recommendations regarding Cassandra-specific DB problems (e.g., large partitions, tombstones, skew, dropped hints, etc.)
Work closely with teams like compliance, site reliability engineering, etc. to ensure the managed infrastructure is performant, healthy, patched, secure and all SLOs / SLAs are met.
Utilize project management software (e.g., Jira) to log time and resolve tickets
Consult on client projects, maintain client confidence and protect client operations by keeping information confidential
Contribute to team effort by using effective communication skills, being a self-starter, and taking responsibility for deliverables.
