Description
Work directly with a Senior Cognos Developer and financial analysts in the creation and deployment of Enterprise BI reporting solutions. Responsible for gathering requirements, creating reports / OLAP cubes, developing Cognos Framework Models, validating data, setting up and training users worldwide and working with other IT personnel to insure that internal controls and safeguards are maintained
Responsibilities
- Develop new and support existing Cognos BI reporting solutions
- Participate in full development lifecycle within Cognos reporting framework from developing business requirements to QA and production deployment
- Assist with dimensional modeling, OLAP cube development, metadata definition, building and maintaining complex reports using Cognos and Microsoft toolsets.
- Participate in integration, performance, and user acceptance testing for BI solutions
- Write and maintain technical documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
- Test and verify data models, mapping and data definitions
- Work directly with IBM/Cognos on debugging efforts and trouble tickets
- Provide technical assistance with troubleshooting reports/cubes by responding to inquiries and questions
- Collaborate with outside team members and management
- Produce deliverables by gathering information and understanding the business needs and objectives
- Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience with Cognos applications, Microsoft / Enterprise reporting, OLAP, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse development, implementation, and maintenance.
- Experience in a Cognos Development role at large enterprise company
- Experience with Report Studio and Cognos workspace preferred
- Sound understanding and foundation of dimensional modeling and OLAP technologies.
- Strong experience with T-SQL and stored procedure development
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services and MDX desirable
- Strong relational database experience (MSSQL, Oracle, Teradata)
- Experience with ETL processes
- TM1 experience preferred
- Experience working with key business data such as sales, inventory, financials.
- Very skilled at requirements definition, data and process modeling, and the use of modeling tools.
- Ability to participate and contribute in a team environment, and to work with users of all levels to identify requirements and deliver timely results.
- Very good technical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound judgment and decision-making, and the appropriate sense of urgency
