Skills
Significant experience in enterprise data architecture international data governance and in developing data solutions for distributed systems. Experience of modern application architectures and in environments and cultures focused on achieving a very high degree of re-use with particular focus on data persistence for microservices. Strong understanding of SaaS technologies and architectures. Deep knowledge across a range of modern technology tools languages and processes. Agile/incremental mindset for system design. Comfortable working in a matrix organization with distributed teams from different cultures.Description
Develop an overarching Data Strategy for the Digital Insurance Platform to deliver on the transformational potential of a worldwide, consumer facing initiative.
Design and implement the core platform Data Architecture, from identifying critical data assets through to the design and realisation of the platform data model, working with colleagues across MMC to align with strategic initiatives in data architecture.
Provide expert guidance on international Data Governance issues along with solutions to governance challenges including managing data residency and data transfer for restrictive jurisdictions.
Establish best practice driven processes to inform Data Engineering initiatives to enable the migration of large quantities of data from legacy monolith systems to new platform microservices.
Evaluate and select appropriate persistence and data storage technologies, advising service development teams on the use of relational, NoSQL, and other data management systems.
Develop data warehousing and data lake strategies, outlining how to enable analytics for global insights through effective data consolidation.
Guide Data Acquisition activities for analytics enrichment and operational improvements.
Consult on Data Quality technique to help with ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data for operational KPI development, management information analytics, and discovery focused data science.
Aid teams involved in data migrations with the process of building data profiles of legacy applications to inform service development and to ensure migration quality and completeness.
Provide technical leadership to the distributed technology teams building the Digital Insurance Platform; including providing technical direction and guidance to multiple scrum teams and more junior team members.
Help define and ensure adherence to technology standards, agreed architecture, and engineering best practices, across the platform and implementation teams
Act as the ultimate escalation point for data related decisions for teams of engineers engaged in delivering core platform components, services, and migrations from legacy applications.
Operate as a core member of the programme Design Authority organisation
Drive a culture of quality and shift-left across the platform teams; championing best practices, helping teams to adopt a mindset of continuous improvement, and ensuring security, reliability, scalability, and performance of solutions is a given.
Work with senior business and technology stakeholders across the world to translate business needs into solutions that drive value.
Get involved in building the team from the ground up, helping to define roles & resourcing needs, and evaluating & selecting candidates for key engineering positions.
