Skills

The Data Engineer will align with various business functions and seek a deep understanding of their process/technical challenges while providing solutions for each. This person will also be responsible for ETL functions such as designing and delivering the processes to extract, transform, clean, and move data and metadata so that it can be extracted from a TD DW loaded into a target landing zone and visa versa. This role will mostly work in an Enterprise Data Warehouse using Teradata and Informatica.
Responsibilities
- 1. Proactively builds relationships with strategic business partners and end users
- 2. Work with business partners and end users to translate informational needs into meaningful business requirements
- 3. Interviews end users to determine requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance
- 4. Recommends appropriate scope of requirements
- 5. Works with data analysts/modelers and other ETL specialists to uncover the appropriate sources of data for a proposed application or data extension
- 6. Works with data stewards to evaluate the condition of data sources, prioritize integration roadmaps, and define appropriate improvements
- 7. Works closely with data analysts/modelers to define appropriate logical models that accurately reflect existing business processes
- 8. Helps prototype/assess potential solutions
- 9. Translates requirements into technical specifications
- 10. Responsible for delivery of the design, code, testing and documentation, based on system and technical requirements
- 11. Responsible for impact analysis in case an existing object is modified
- 12 Data mappings transformation processes, job schedules and automation for extraction and load processes
- 13. Validates that data solution meets requirements and service-level agreements
- 14. Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions
- 15. Coordinate technical reviews with relevant teams
- 16. Contribute in technical documentations such as DFD (Data flow diagrams) and ADD (Application / architecture design document)
Educational Requirements
- 1. Strong analytic aptitude
- 2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- 3. Solid organizational and planning skills
- 4. Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- 5. Ability to translate business needs into relevant technical solution and design.
- 6. Ability to provide ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions and present to business users effectively
- 7. Knowledge of key data warehousing (Informatica, SQL Server, Teradata, etc.) and standardized reporting principles (Tableau, etc.)
- 8 Experience with Data modeling – ERWin experience is beneficial
- 9. Ability to work cross-functionally and be seen as a value-adding business partner
