Description
As a member of the Enterprise Information Management and Analytics (EIMA) team within the IT department, the Data Designer 3 has direct impact on important initiatives that enable our business by analyzing data requirements. Creates conceptual, logical and physical models to satisfy requirements. Designs and implements necessary database tables to support application development. Maintains, supports, and troubleshoots existing databases.
Working independently in an agile team environment, the Data Designer 3 partners with members of business units and IT. Possesses deep skills in data modeling, SQL and data analysis. Utilizes excellent communication skills, seeks out challenges and has a strong desire to continually improve their knowledge and skills. Helps set direction of the Data Design practice for the organization. Serves as a peer to less experienced data designers. Coordinates and directs work assignments.
Responsibilities
- · 5+ years of Data Designer experience.
- · 7-10 years industry experience.
- · Property & Casualty insurance experience (Preferred) or at least be familiar with it.
- · Communicate at all levels.
- · Should have been Data Analyst prior to being Data Designer.
- · Highly skilled at building complex conceptual, logical and physical data models which are visual representations of an enterprise’s business data. Experience with Erwin or other modeling tools is required.
- · Highly skilled at systematically applying logical reasoning techniques to query, inspect, cleanse, profile and study data in structured, semi-structured, and unstructured formats for the purpose of deriving knowledge to support business decision-making and mapping data between source and target systems to support application integrations.
- · Highly skilled at SQL Programming with the ability to perform the most complex queries against relational databases in an efficient manner.
- · Knowledgeable at transforming data into compelling, meaningful and appealing visualizations, such as graphs, dashboards and reports, using intuitive industry visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Excel).
- · Knowledgeable at designing and developing meta data models, frameworks, dimensions, reporting objects, templates, drill downs all within the Cognos Framework Manager, Reporting and Dashboard applications.
- · Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field or commensurate experience.
- · Ability to travel as required.
- · Agile development experience required.
- · Self starter, but will take direction from others.
