Description

The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for developing and implementing strategic and tactical data technology direction in support of the business environment, across the enterprise. As the most senior data professional within the Company, the Enterprise Data Architect will provide a vision for leveraging data information and technologies to enable realization of established revenue and productivity goals. This includes providing data architecture direction, creating a plan for phased migration to the future state, supporting implementation initiatives to clearly define data architecture, and leveraging best practices. The Enterprise Data Architect is accountable for the architectural integrity, quality and value derived from all data capabilities within the corporation.
This Role work closely with BI Architect, to define the strategic framework for management reporting, analytics, and business intelligence, requires a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and how best to organize underlying data structures to support BI.

Responsibilities
  • • Provide strategic architectural and consulting support to Business and IT by providing insight and advice on data architecture options by identifying risks, challenges, functionality, cost analysis and impact on other business processes and priorities.
  • • Assess and cultivates long-term, strategic, BI goals for management reporting or business intelligence development in conjunction with end users, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • • Support the strategic mission of the IT function as it relates to goals for the organization.
  • • Demonstrate a positive supportive attitude of company and departmental goals.
  • • Supports and Involves in execution of business strategies consistently to improve efficiency and effectiveness of assigned operations.
  • • Helps to develop and maintain a staff that is professional, service oriented, and well trained to provide positive reinforcement, as well as, opportunities for growth and development.
  • • Lead the Project team by maximizing each person’s ability to make a positive impact.
  • • Participate with other IT Leaders in reviewing applications, interviewing, and hiring the best possible candidates for the department.
  • • Demonstrates by practice a commitment to IT guiding principles, strategies and values ensuring they are incorporated into department deliverables
  • • Develops leadership by delegating authority and responsibility while maintaining ultimate accountability
  • • Provides feedback for staff, to help professional development plans and goals in a timely and effective manner.
  • • Work collaboratively with other IT stakeholders to build a roadmap for data architecture defining how the organization will migrate to the future state in support of business strategies.
  • • Manage the development and maintenance of an enterprise data model at the conceptual and logical level with traceability to the physical level to facilitate migration to a rationalized set of data definitions and provide consistency across applications.
  • • Recommend and define how data architecture constructs like transactional, operational and analytical data stores should be leveraged to enable business capabilities and create ease of access to data for members and agency personnel.
  • • Manage the construction and maintenance of an enterprise metadata repository, aligned with the business view of functions and processes, to leverage data consistent with metadata definitions and the enterprise data model.
  • • Develop, create, and enforce best practices to support project teams in delivering data solutions that meet agility, performance, scalability, and availability requirements.
  • • Develop enterprise data management methodology and standards, and promote them to both technology and business constituents.
  • • Design and document the movement of data through the enterprise.
  • • Drive selection of data management tools, and the development of standards, usage guidelines and procedures related to the usage of these tools.
  • • Ensure there is a focus on data quality by:
  • Putting in place governance processes around meta-data to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, and reusability of meta-data.
  • Participating in developing consistent definitions for commonly reference data.
  • Establishing measures to chart progress related to completeness and quality of meta-data for enterprise information, to support reduction of data redundancy and fragmentation, elimination of unnecessary movement of data, and improvement of data quality.
  • Providing input on large-scale projects and creation of IT road maps to ensure compatibility with the vision for date architecture at KFB
  • Defining the process to resolve cross-organizational data management issues.
  • • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

Educational Requirements
  • • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • • Minimum of 10+ years of professional technology experience with a concentration in data.
  • • Superior knowledge with ability to manage and coordinate enterprise information use, corporate data access design, metadata management and distributed/replicated data approach to ensure consistency, timeliness, data lineage, data quality and availability of master data throughout the enterprise.
  • • Ability to define Data Strategy, Data Governance process. Prior experience in defining Data Strategy is a plus.
  • • Hands-on experience with one or more business intelligence tools or comparable programming and data experience is a plus.
  • • Ability to create various levels of data architecture and data architecture constructs such as transactional, operational and analytical data stores to facilitate the integration of a diverse set of applications built upon disparate technologies – DB2, VSAM, SQL Server.
  • • Ability to envision and balance strategic, long-term data needs for the enterprise while coordinating and aligning multiple short-term tactical priorities with the ability to implement change in a complex dynamic environment.
  • • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring skills with a broad technology background combined with the ability to build relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
  • • Strong understanding of data from an enterprise perspective with expertise in developing strategic and tactical data technology direction.
  • • Ability to teach, lecture, tutor, coach, formally or informally in own area of expertise.
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication and facilitator skills.
  • • Experience in insurance will set a candidate apart from others.
  • • Strong understanding of SDLC methodology.
  • • Effectively build a network of contacts at all levels within the organization and able to mentor others as needed.
