Dow currently seeking an experienced High-Performance Computing Engineer to work in our client’s Midland Michigan ‘s office within their R& D Infrastructure IT area reporting to a Senior Manager. This role will be responsible for building, testing, and deploying containerized software (e.g., Docker, Singularity) within our client’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. In addition to expertise in Linux operating systems and applications, a strong understanding of HPC concepts (e.g., MPI programming, job schedulers) is preferred. The role involves providing user support, documentation, and consulting to ensure effective use of HPC resources. Must relocate and be onsite in Midland, MI. Some infrequent after-hours support may be required.
Responsibilities
- • 3+ years of experience in system administration.
- • Strong knowledge of RedHat and Debian-based operating systems.
- • Proficient in Bash scripting and other shell scripting languages.
- • Experience building and maintaining open-source and commercial software with [Docker OR Apptainer] container technology.
- • Experience developing and securing containerized applications and HPC environments.
- • Knowledge of Linux file systems and permissions.
- • Knowledge of shared network storage protocols (NFS, CIFS).
- • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- • Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or related field.
- Desired Qualifications
- • Proficiency in Azure Pipelines or CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) processes.
- • Experience with HPC job scheduling systems (e.g., Torque, Slurm).
- • Experience with HPC technologies like GPUs, deep learning frameworks, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture.
- • Experience with parallel computing paradigms (MPI, OpenMP, etc.).
