Skills

Experience: 5+ years of experience working with PostgreSQL including database design query optimization and performance tuning. Strong knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) data modeling and SQL. Experience with large-scale database systems and distributed database architecture. Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals (e.g. indexing query planning execution and performance tuning). Strong experience with advanced SQL stored procedures and triggers. Knowledge of database replication high availability and disaster recovery techniques. Tools & Technologies: Proficient in PostgreSQL tools (e.g. pgAdmin psql etc.) and cloud-based PostgreSQL solutions (e.g. AWS RDS Google Cloud SQL). Experience with database monitoring tools and performance profiling. Version Control: Familiarity with Git or other version control systems for source code management. Problem Solving & Analytical Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities especially in complex database environments. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Description

The candidate will have a strong background in PostgreSQL database development, performance tuning, and complex query optimization. As a Senior Postgres Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and reliable database systems, ensuring high performance and availability.

Responsibilities

• Database Design & Architecture:
• Design and implement complex database schemas and models, ensuring they are optimized for performance, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with teams to design database solutions that align with application architecture.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization:
• Conduct database performance tuning and query optimization to improve the speed and efficiency of database operations.
• Identify bottlenecks and resolve issues related to database performance.
• Monitor and fine-tune database systems to ensure optimal performance.
• SQL Development:
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Implement advanced database queries for reporting, analytics, and application support.
• Database Security & Maintenance:
• Ensure data security, privacy, and integrity by implementing proper backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including upgrades, patches, and system health checks.
• Collaboration & Mentorship:
• Work closely with other developers, data engineers, and architects to design solutions that meet business requirements.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers and share knowledge on best practices in PostgreSQL development.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Analyze, test, and implement new features, upgrades, and patches for PostgreSQL systems.
• Database Migration & Integration:
• Assist with migrating databases from other platforms to PostgreSQL.
• Integrate PostgreSQL databases with other systems and services (e.g., ETL, cloud storage).
