User Experience Designer – Design System Team The User Experience team . is responsible for creating engaging, disruptive experiences wherever our customers or employees interact with technology – from our websites to our physical stores to the applications we use to run our businesses. The work of our group impacts all of our brands;, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Intermix across every major platform. Our work is an integral part of the success and growth of the Omnichannel experience and evolve our digital experiences from the ground up. We are looking to add a broad-thinking, experienced Visual Designer to our team. With a range of interesting design and technology challenges that cross the boundaries of online and in-store. As a Visual Designer, you are an expert with the skills to design for experiences across any device with a screen, be that mobile, tablet, desktop, or wearable. You partner well equally with Interaction Designers and Product Managers as you do with Software Engineers and Consumer Insights Researchers. HTML, CSS and JavaScript may not be built into your DNA but you have a basic comfort level with these languages. You live and breath design standards, have a healthy respect for infusing brand into the UI and if you’re not versed in UX pattern libraries, they have piqued your interest at least a few times. • Assigned to the Design System Team, co-own Stitch, our Design System, along with the Design System Lead, the UX Creative Director, Front End Developers, and brand partners. • Participate in conversations starting in early concept development, providing input on components as they are being developed and helping to form the nuances of the final design and implementation. • Produce thorough explorations of possible system solutions to complex content and interaction problems on the ecommerce platform and with the brand marketing and content teams. • Champion solutions that are intuitive, powerful and delightful • Expand the existing Design System based on business and user needs and co-own the education, governance and evangelisim of the system. • Work collaboratively with interaction design, product management, user research, engineering, and brand creative partners • Pair daily, in person, if possible, with the Design Sytem Developers on experiments, strategy, governance and implementation details. • Eloquently communicate design decisions to stakeholders of all levels • Advocate for the user as much as for the business • Serve as a trusted advisor to the individual brand teams, maintaining a two-way conversation by helping them improve the usability of their site content while also constantly discussing brand infusion into our core experiences
Responsibilities
- ● 7 to 9 years of experience designing for web and mobile, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your experience creating user-centered design solutions.
- ● Minimum of 3+ years of experience in responsive design
- ● Expert in Visual (UI) and Interaction Design (UX) - able to synthesize custom elements from an existing design system with native mobile patterns to deliver an effective combination of consistency, familiarity, brand expression, and ease of use.
- ● Comfortable reviewing proposed and implemented work, providing candid feedback to fellow designers and developers, holding the cross-functional team accountable to delivering the application as designed, or arriving at compromises that keep the customer experience at the forefront.
- ● Experienced in gathering end-user input and conducting or participating in usability testing and needs-finding research.
- ● Detail-oriented with excellent work-file organization and respect for sustainable but evolving design processes.
- ● Excellent communicator who has the conviction to champion your point of view but can also successfully collaborate with others
